Issues in charging laptops can be troublesome. Without a battery, you can’t do anything. The error in charging the battery can occur due to numerous reasons. If you are thinking my HP laptop is not charging and should contact me for help; try a few manual methods for troubleshooting the error. When your laptop is not taking charge, you need to check several things for finding and troubleshooting the error. In case you are unable to fix the error then you need to ask for technical help.

Make sure the charger is plugged in properly

Sometimes the user gets into charging issues just because the laptop is not plugged in properly. Before searching for other solutions, check the power cord. Make sure you have the electricity. Now eject the power cord from your laptop and reinsert it carefully. Now check whether the laptop is taking the charge or not.

Check the battery

The error in laptop charging appears when the battery is not inserted on the laptop properly. You should check your battery to ensure that it has been placed correctly. On our laptop, take out the battery and now press the power button for 10 seconds. It will drain all the remaining change from your laptop. Now plug in the power cord to the laptop (do not insert the batter) and turn on your laptop. If your laptop is working on the charger it means your cable is working properly. Now insert the battery on your laptop and connect the power cord. Check whether the battery is charging or not. If the battery is charging, the error was appearing due to improper battery installation. But if your battery is still showing the error that means you were using a bum battery and need to be replaced.

Use the original charger

You can get the error on charging the laptop when you are using a third-party charger on your laptop. Fitting the charger on the port doesn’t mean it will work. Certain adapters can fit on your system’s charging port but can’t provide power to the laptop. Get an original charger for your laptop and try to charge your laptop.

Update your driver

The battery-related error can appear when the AC adapter driver gets outdated. The driver is necessary for charging the device. Check for the new update of your AC adapter driver. If the new update is available then download it on your system immediately. You can update the driver on Windows PC by following the given steps:

1. Open your Windows system

2. Click on the Start menu

3. Go to Device Manager

4. Go o Batteries

Click on Microsoft ACPI compliant control method battery

Right-click on the adapter one by one and click on Update driver. If a new update is available for the driver then it will start installing on the system. Wait for completing the driver installation and then restart your device. Now connect the charger to the laptop and check whether the battery is charging or not.

Check device’s power & Sleep settings

The battery charging issues can appear when the user has made invalid changes to the Power & Sleep settings. Check the settings for resolving the battery-related error:

1. Press the Windows key

2. Go to the Settings page

3. Click on System

4. Now open the Power & Sleep tab

5. Go to Additional power settings

6. Click on Change Plan settings

Check all the settings and make the appropriate changes

Hit the Save Changes option. Now close the page and retry to charge the laptop.

Run a malware scan

Sometimes dangerous malware can also corrupt several processes on your device. These malicious programs can also steal your data. You should run an antivirus scan on your device to remove all the dangerous malware from the system. After running the scan, restart your device and check whether the charging error gets fixed or not.
